Following the wide praise of their debut single Josef, which grabbed the attention of the Huffington Post, the Daily Mirror, Yahoo OMG, and Digital Spy, BERLIN BERLIN return with another sky-scraping single, Be Here.

A glorious paean to faith, devotion and love, Be Here is another huge indicator of the band’s ability to write stadium-sized, heartfelt pop – and shows why the band were quickly invited by Google to shoot a video session in London for the internet giants.

The video from the session will be published on the week of the single’s release.

Be Here is backed by a transformative, shimmering rework of Furniture‘s 1986 classic Brilliant Mind. It’s simply a must-listen, and the band performed it live in the BBC Introducing Manchester studio for 6 Music’s Elizabeth Alker, who said it sounded “spectacular.

BERLIN BERLIN’s mantra is ‘dark beauty on epic scale’, and their sound is immediate, vast and driven, combining brooding 80s/90s electronica with contemporary rhythms – to fashion something truly vast, life-affirming and euphoric.

“Are these the new Killers?” – The Huffington Post
“Gritty, electro-infused rock that invokes moody New Wave influences” Idolator
“Stadium-rousing electronica” – Digital Spy

The band is: Jonny Holland (vocals/keys), Stuart Winnington (guitar/keys) and Jordan Hunstone (drums). They signed to Manchester’s MUK Records in January 2014.

HEYROCCO’S BRILLIANT FREE DOWNLOAD & DEBUT UK TOUR

HEYROCCO

Nate Merli (vocals and guitar), Christopher Cool (bass – and yes, that’s his real name!), and Taco Cooper (drums) first got together in a parent’s garage five years ago.

They quickly knew they were onto something, and – aiming to be the biggest, loudest rock band of their generation – they were just as quick to quit school and make it happen for real.

It’s a good job they did, because from the sounds of Virgin‘s wild melodies and cloudburst choruses, it looks like their hunch was right.

HEYROCCO’s first single from their forthcoming album Teenage Movie Soundtrack (due for release in March 2015) will be available as a free download (above) or here.

Like every good rock band, this South Carolina-bred trio’s dark pop tunes are about sex, rebellion and rock ’n’ roll.

They’re reminiscent of Mudhoney, Nada Surf, Dandy Warhols and Pavement; and they’ll sit right alongside Royal Blood, Drenge, Darlia and PEACE.

HEYROCCO will take their punchy, sprawling songs on a UK tour in October 2014.

SINGLE – Catacombs
IMPACT DATE –  June 2014
LABEL – MUK Records

Q: What links The Hollies’ Bobby Elliot and Bird to Beast’s Sam and Hannah Hird?
A: Bird to Beast‘s new single, Catacombs – and the Lancashire mill-town of Colne…

After a breakthrough start to 2014, Bird To Beast deliver another wonderfully infectious song, Catacombs. And it marks them as songwriters of real note, showcasing an ear for the enticingly odd and attractively dreamy.

Catacombs is not only Bird To Beast’s most lovely and touching single yet, but it also features shuffling percussion from Hollies drummer Bobby Elliott.

The song got its first radio play on Radcliffe and Maconie‘s BBC 6 Music show – with Mark enthusing about the song – and was particularly impressed that Bobby was playing on the track.

Bobby lives in the same Lancashire town of Colne as Sam and Hannah, and after meeting the band – and being wooed by their inventive sound – got involved.

Catacombs is a fabulous single, drawing listeners in with sweetly cooing vocals on love and life, and a coiling, surprising melody, mixing a gorgeous lullaby with rumbustious excitement.

The single is backed with live favourite Posture and Pantomime as a B-side.

Its release follows a whirlwind few months for Bird To Beast, seeing them gaining wonderful UK radio support – including Steve Lamacq, Marc Riley, Chris Hawkins, Radcliffe & Maconie, Alex Lester, Tom Robinson, Michelle Hussey, Ruth Barnes, Sean McGinty, Emma Mac and Shell Zenners shows – as well as playing a bunch of well-received gigs, and will be gracing a whole array of festival stages in the coming months.

Sculpting innovative, bass-driven sounds, dizzy with rhythms and hooks, Manchester collective Red Sky Noise merge raw soul with a mixture of live and programmed beats and instrumentation.

Armed with the powerful lead vocals of Mica Millar, Only You garnered instant BBC Radio 1Xtra support at the very end of 2013, quickly being made the BBC Introducing Single of the Week.

Red Sky Noise make the kind of multi-faceted dance music that sounds unmistakably modern and undeniably massive.

Fiercely dancefloor-driven and assimilating contemporary bass music with 90’s dance and classic soul: Red Sky Noise have always threatened to grab wider attention – and so it has proven!

National radio praise for Only You:

“People really liking this! Lots of love coming in!” – DJ Target, BBC Radio 1Xtra
“Red Sky Noise slotting right in there with the likes of Rudimental” – Trevor Nelson, BBC Radio 1Xtra
“That track took me somewhere! ‘Ave it! Tune! That drop was emotional!” – Twin B and Yasmin, BBC Radio 1Xtra

And, with In Halves, the band is armed with a video to dazzle eyes, and a pristine, shiver-inducing song, pricked by singer Anna Waldmann’s pin-sharp voice.

So where on earth have YOU come from? Well, north London – but by the way of The Cocteau Twins, London Grammar, The XX and Daughter.

It’s a dazzling and confident first step for the North London band, whose early demos caught the keen ears of tastemakers Simon Raymonde and 6 Music’s Tom Robinson last year, before signing to Manchester’s MUK Records.

SPACE release new single “Fortune Teller”; Announce New LP and 20th Anniversary

spacefortuneteller900ASKME -singles-button-smallIMPACT DATE: 3rd March 2014

90’s favourites Space are back, armed with a new single, album and UK tour with Republica to coincide with the band’s 20th anniversary.

Writing top oddball pop songs is no easy feat, but it’s something Space have been doing for two decades. Fortune Teller is their first single in a decade, and their signature quirky, up-beat pop is a welcome breath of fresh air.

“I’m keeping up with the mystic vibe!” says frontman Tommy Scott, who can’t wait to get back on the road and play the hits – and the new tracks –  to their many fans:

“When we tour, we love playing the old stuff, but I always knew I wanted to record some new material. We know the fans like to hear the old classics from our multi-million selling albums ‘Spiders’ and ‘Tin Planet’, but we wanted to give them something extra.”

The platinum selling band came to prominence in the mid-90’s with hit singles such as Female of the Species, Neighbourhood, Me and You Versus the World and The Ballad of Tom Jones.

Space reformed in December 2011 for a special one-off hometown show at the O2 Academy.

The show sold out in double-quick time and the response so positive that they decided to get back in the studio… and they’ve teamed up with fellow 90’s million-sellers Republica for a UK tour in March to coincide with the new single.

Says Tommy:

“It will be great to see all of the loyal Space fans who have supported us for years, and we’ve also noticed that we have a lot of younger fans out there who are just getting into our music.”

20th Anniversary tour with Republica:

Tue March 18th 2014 – GLASGOW King Tuts
Wed March 19th 2014 – NEWCASTLE UPON TYNE O2 Academy Newcastle
Thu March 20th 2014 – MANCHESTER Academy
Fri March 21st 2014 – LIVERPOOL O2 Academy Liverpool
Sat March 22nd 2014 – COVENTRY Kasbah

STRAW BEAR’S “THE LAND WITCH” RELEASED TO WIDE ACCLAIM

It’s a song that has grabbed repeated plays from BBC Radio 2‘s folk mainstay Bob Harris, who counts himself as a “big fan” as a result of The Land Witch‘s gleaming alt-folk pop charm.

He’s not the only one – a long, illustrious list of national DJs have backed the band again and again over the last 12 months, including Huw Stephens, Tom Robinson, Jen Long & Ally McCrae, Dermot O’Leary, Gideon Coe, Chris Hawkins, Gary Crowley and nabbing a record of the week slot on BBC Alba’s RAPAL show.

It’s the final single taken from their enthusiastically-reviewed Black Bank LP, and is accompanied by a smart and slightly tongue-in-cheek spooky video.

If 2013 was a year of huge progress and breakthrough for the Cambridgeshire band, then their ambitions for 2014 are even greater – and who could fail to be won over by a band with such talent and glorious melodies?

Silverclub Spin The Minx’s (Can You Find) My Head? With Dizzying Remix

silverclubSilverclub make a habit of contorting sounds, mashing genres and questioning preconceptions, and they’ve woven a dreamy and bewilderingly colourful remix from The Minx‘s buzzy power-pop.

The transformation of (Can You Find) My Head?‘s boisterous, lark-a-minute guitar-pop into a controlled, somnambulistic, dizzy house workout.

Meanwhile, The Minx are on the verge of selling out yet another key venue in Manchester – with just a few tickets remaining for their Saturday 7th December show at Sound Control.
