Bird To Beast have rightly built themselves a reputation as a must-see live act, as their whistle-stop tour around the UK this summer has proven.

They’ve been asked to alight on the 31st July at Salford’s Media City – home of the BBC – by BBC 6 Music DJ and long-term supporter, Chris Hawkins.

And, armed with a raft of wildly addictive, quirky folk-pop tunes and a captivating stage presence, they’re sure to win over the crowd of media professionals and music-loving public alike!

Praise for Bird To Beast:

“Elephant – we’ve been playing a lot and enjoying!” – Radcliffe and Maconie, BBC RADIO 6 MUSIC
“I love this – so I’m going to play an album track from Bird to Beasts’ debut album” – STEVE LAMACQ, BBC RADIO 6 MUSIC
“Lovely and pastoral – they know how to do harmonies!” – Elizabeth Alker, BBC RADIO6 MUSIC
“Suggesting Pet Sounds-era Beach Boys and Rufus Wainwright at his most beautifully opulent, theirs is a flowing psych-pop folk hybrid that overflows with prettiness, engulfing the listener in rapture”- MANCHESTER EVENING NEWS

SINGLE – Catacombs
IMPACT DATE –  June 2014
LABEL – MUK Records

Q: What links The Hollies’ Bobby Elliot and Bird to Beast’s Sam and Hannah Hird?
A: Bird to Beast‘s new single, Catacombs – and the Lancashire mill-town of Colne…

After a breakthrough start to 2014, Bird To Beast deliver another wonderfully infectious song, Catacombs. And it marks them as songwriters of real note, showcasing an ear for the enticingly odd and attractively dreamy.

Catacombs is not only Bird To Beast’s most lovely and touching single yet, but it also features shuffling percussion from Hollies drummer Bobby Elliott.

The song got its first radio play on Radcliffe and Maconie‘s BBC 6 Music show – with Mark enthusing about the song – and was particularly impressed that Bobby was playing on the track.

Bobby lives in the same Lancashire town of Colne as Sam and Hannah, and after meeting the band – and being wooed by their inventive sound – got involved.

Catacombs is a fabulous single, drawing listeners in with sweetly cooing vocals on love and life, and a coiling, surprising melody, mixing a gorgeous lullaby with rumbustious excitement.

The single is backed with live favourite Posture and Pantomime as a B-side.

Its release follows a whirlwind few months for Bird To Beast, seeing them gaining wonderful UK radio support – including Steve Lamacq, Marc Riley, Chris Hawkins, Radcliffe & Maconie, Alex Lester, Tom Robinson, Michelle Hussey, Ruth Barnes, Sean McGinty, Emma Mac and Shell Zenners shows – as well as playing a bunch of well-received gigs, and will be gracing a whole array of festival stages in the coming months.

BREAKING NEWS on August/September releases

THE CORDELS have secured their place on the Xfm playlist. That means the single Dance In Time will be heard across the entire Xfm network in the UK and around the world on the Xfm website. And that’s not all! Dance In Time is also record of the week on Clint Boon’s drive-time show this week on Xfm Manchester.  Clint’s show goes out 3pm-7pm on http://www.xfm.co.uk.

SAVING AIMEE have just been confirmed as main support for the Fightstar tour in October. And that means we’ll be extra busy plugging the band’s debut album, We’re The Good Guys.

TEAM WATERPOLO‘s Letting Go has been chosen as Pete Mitchell’s record of the week on Xfm Manchester. The guys have also just been asked to play Rock FM’s ‘Rock in the Park’ on 15 August so catch them there if you can.

THE TRAVELLING BAND‘s version of The Stone Roses’ Waterfall is playlisted at BBC Radio London. Great timing as it’s the 20th anniversary of The Stone Roses debut album being released.

THE VANGUARDS are booked in to do a session on Pete Michell’s network Xfm show, Razor Cuts, on Sunday 16 August. This comes hot on the heels of their Radcliffe & Maconie record of the week spot for BBC Radio 2.

We are hugely excited to be working with an incredibly talented young man who goes by the name of COSMO JARVIS. You can listen on our  Soundcloud page and we’ll be posting much more about him very soon!

THE VANGUARDS – Regress

Single released on 17 August 2009

the vanguards 170809Within months of forming THE VANGUARDS found themselves recording in The Charlatans’ studio with legendary production duo Dave Tolan and Jim Spencer (Primal Scream, The Charlatans) – the result is Regress – a gritty blast of raw energy blended with a genuine pop melody. It’s a rock/pop hit in the making. THE VANGUARDS’ style of hard edged, sub pop is garnering fans right, left and centre – so much so that Regress became Radcliffe & Maconie’s record of the week, further recognising the bands raw talent.
