HEYROCCO came, saw and conquered on their first trip to the UK!
Not only did they play to a packed KOKO in London at the start of their debut tour – a tour that saw them playing to more sold-out venues around the UK – but they rounded it off with a return to the capital, and a session for the premier new music show on Xfm.
The session will be broadcast on 4th November 2014!
Looking every inch the rock stars that they look set to become, the HEYROCCO arrived for their Xfm X-posure session excited to meet key DJ John Kennedy, and as expected, they delivered a fabulous session.
John, who’s always a reliable musical weathervane of new talent, was hugely complimentary and supportive. We can’t wait to hear the session when it’s broadcast on 4th November!
SINGLE – Mom Jeans
LABEL – Vital Music
IMPACT DATE – 27th October 2014
HEYROCCO‘s songs cut to the heart of teenage thrills: young love, long summer days, and the little details that trigger all that emotion.
Their new single Mom Jeans encapsulates all of that – and it’s a perfect example of HEYROCCO’s brilliant balance of dark rock, short ‘n’ sweet pop tunes and young, breathless excitement.
It’s the follow-up to previous single Virgin – which was Kerrang! Track of the Week. Mom Jeans has won them radio recognition, too – they will be recording an Xfm X-posure session for tastemaker John Kennedy at the end of October as they complete their debut UK tour.
HEYROCCO are thrilling fans around the country right now, with sold out shows and a huge audience at London’s KOKO kicking off their first UK jaunt.
“…the angst-ridden grunge of Nirvana, while flecks of Pavement ensure a distinctly nostalgic flavour to these young guitar heroes.” – NME
“You know those perfect songs that soundtrack your summer of late nights, romance and hedonism? Well, HEYROCCO have just dropped one.” – Gigwise
“Heyrocco’s new single launches us right into 90’s teenage movie nostalgia. Like these Southern sweethearts, we admittedly might not have been the coolest kids in high school—but at least we can pretend like we were while listening to some 90’s inspired rock and roll.” – NYLON
“… a darkly nostalgic vibe – worthy of, say, Radiohead’s much neglected ‘Pablo Honey’ full length.” – CLASH
The Minx’s devastatingly bouncy new single No Friends, grabbed its national radio debut courtesy of tastemaker extraordinaire John Kennedy on his influential X-Posure show!
The Minx are the power-pop companions to the punky thrash of The Orwells, Palma Violets and Parquet Courts – snuggling up cosily with a shared sense of spirited, anything-goes fun…
The Minx are winning people over the hard way, gigging, recording top pop songs and then doing it all again!

Xfm new music champion John Kennedy loved YOU from the first time he heard their cracking debut single, In Halves.
He has become a true champion of the band – making them the X-posure big One, inviting them to play his club night in London, and to cap it all, he has just asked YOU to perform a live session on his Xfm show!
They didn’t let him down – it’s a cracking session – and the band even picked some tunes for John’s playlist live on the air!

YOU have gained two enormous and influential backers in one day in the shape of both the NME and Xfm‘s John Kennedy!
The bands’ heads must be spinning a bit – first they opened this week‘s NME Radar section to discover that they have been given primary billing of new artists to watch.
The NME loved YOU’s ‘baroque pop’, praised the band’s coiling arrangements and were won over by singer Anna’s ‘otherworldly coo.’
If that wasn’t enough, they then turned on Xfm to hear that new single In Halves has been selected by enormously-respected DJ John Kennedy as his X-Posure Big One – which means they’ll be played on his Xfm show every day this week!
John has been comprehensively won over by YOU, saying on his show, “I played it for the first time on Thursday. It’s been haunting me ever since…” and then tweeted, “Love the track! Playing it every single night this week!”
Whatever next? Well, maybe enviable coverage like this should be expected, having followed on from being tipped by other notable spotters of talent, Tom Robinson and Simon Raymonde.
