singlesImpact Date: 30th September 2013
Label: Art Is Hard Records

Crafty young producer DEADBEAR is releasing his new single Wabi Sabi, taken from the EP of the same name.

This release comes after garnering a ton of acclaim from influencers as sharp as Bella Union’s Simon Raymonde, who played DEADBEAR on his Xfm radio show, Mary Anne Hobbs, who played it on BBC 6 Music, Jen Long and Ally McCrae, who spun Wabi Sabi on their BBC Radio 1 show.

Wabi Sabi‘s wonderfully dense and deep new single will please bass enthusiasts and lovers of complex electronic pop alike.

Wabi Sabi arrives hot on the heels of his highly-fêted collaboration with Alex Hewett from art-rock darlings Egyptian Hip Hop and his brilliant official remix for Memphis Industries’ Barbarossa.

Nick is something of a musical polymath, having also created a music app for CERN called the Large Hadron Sound Collider, and has worked composing a ‘laptop opera’ with Proto-Type theatre company.

Wabi Sabi refers to a Japanese concept centred on the idea of accepting life’s transient nature, and appreciating flawed beauty.

The Wabi Sabi EP is out now on Art Is Hard Records, and can be purchased with a fabulous a 16 page accompanying ‘zine.

DEADBEAR releases debut single “All Is Life” via Bad Panda Records

DeadbearNickblogManchester producer DEADBEAR is releasing the first singleAll Is Life, from his debut EP Wabi-Sabi today via the cutting-edge and influential Bad Panda Records. And he’s struck a chord, averaging over a thousand plays per day since the single has been released.

Italian-based Bad Panda Records is respected both for their on-the-button musical choices and Creative Commons-supporting ethical stance.

And being a label that repeatedly recognises fantastically creative music, it was no surprise that they leapt at the chance to release DEADBEAR‘s debut single.

All Is Life is the first thunderously soft cut from Wabi-Sabi, and features typically fascinating vocal from fellow Mancunian Alex Hewett, of art-rock darlings Egyptian Hip Hop.

The Wabi-Sabi EP follows on 26th August.

DEADBEAR TO RELEASE DEBUT EP, WABI-SABI

DEADBEAR_ARTWORK_med

Fresh from rustling up a brilliant re-work of Barbarossa‘s Turbine for Memphis Industries, new Mancunian producer DEADBEAR is poised to release his debut EP.

Wabi-Sabi will be out on 26th August and features contributions from Alex Hewett of Egyptian Hip Hop and hotly-tipped Art is Hard/Sewage Tapes artist /please/.

Produced in his signature expansive, airy manner, Wabi-Sabi’s five multi-faceted songs are already picking up appreciative murmurs, following the impact of his Barbarossa remix.

Arcing gracefully from the bass-music-driven density of the opening track All Is Life to the glacial breadth of closing track JapanEatHotel, Wabi-Sabi is a confident, inventive debut from an artist who is in control and aiming high.

Wabi-Sabi tracklisting:

All Is Life (feat. Alex Hewett / Egyptian Hip Hop)
Snow In Tokyo
Wabi Sabi
Uncanny Valley
