They’re seemingly fully-formed; emerging suddenly with a pristine, spine-tingling song and a breathtaking video.

Where on earth have YOU come from?

And, with In Halves, the band is armed with a video to dazzle eyes, and a pristine, shiver-inducing song, pricked by singer Anna Waldmann’s pin-sharp voice.

So where on earth have YOU come from? Well, north London – but by the way of The Cocteau Twins, London Grammar, The XX and Daughter.

It’s a dazzling and confident first step for the North London band, whose early demos caught the keen ears of tastemakers Simon Raymonde and 6 Music’s Tom Robinson last year, before signing to Manchester’s MUK Records.

“One of the best debut singles I’ve heard in my time!” – Gary Crowley on In Halves

A beautiful, unique voice; a coiling, half-dream of a single; a video hinting at end times. What’s not to love?

Keep your eyes and ears open for YOU…

Who are YOU?

Red Sky Noise

ASKME -singles-button-smallIMPACT DATE: 23rd June 2014
LABEL: MUK Records

Red Sky Noise’s sky-scraping – and fiercely dancefloor-driven – assimilation of contemporary bass music, 90’s dance and classic soul always threatened to grab wider attention – and so it has proven!

The innovative Manchester four-piece are about to bring their genre-fusing sound to a voracious audience on national BBC radio, having been selected as 1Xtra’s BBC Introducing Single Of The Week.

Their bass-driven sound, mixing live and programmed instrumentation, is the kind of multi-faceted dance music that sounds unmistakably modern and undeniably massive – and it should find a perfect home on the UK’s premier urban radio station.

Red Sky Noise have been added to the 1Xtra playlist for the week beginning Monday 18th November, and Only You will be played across 1Xtra’s daytime shows:

Monday – Twin B (7am – 10am)
Tuesday – Sarah Jane Crawford (1pm – 4pm)
Wednesday – MistaJam (7pm – 10pm)
Thursday – Trevor Nelson (10am – 1pm)
Saturday – Yasmin Evans (7am – 10am)
Saturday – DJ Target (4pm – 7pm)
Sunday – Adele Roberts (1am – 4pm)

This is something of a repeated coup for Manchester’s MUK Records, whose artist MDNGHT was also recently selected for the BBC Introducing playlist slot on both 1Xtra and Radio 1.

Only You is available on iTunes to pre-order now.

MDNGHT continue to catch the eyes, ears and affections of major media, with The Guardian exclusively streaming their forthcoming EP, Into The Night, in their highly-respected New Music feature.

The Guardian recognise quality and potential when they see it, too, and enthuse about the “three amazing songs” on MDNGHT‘s debut EP:

Manchester-based quartet MDNGHT (they mean Midnight) make the kind of disco-tinged house that pretty much every major label must be quite keen to snap up right about now.

Their first release, I Will Lead You On, emerged earlier this year… Thankfully that song’s brilliance isn’t a one off, with the gorgeous swell of the title track utilising the band’s penchant for dangerously catchy choruses.

This is just the first example of the breathless (inter)national recognition MDNGHT‘s glossy, stylish pop should be garnering in the near future…

The Into The Night EP is out on 21st October 2013 and can be pre-ordered on iTunes as of 4th August.

  • MDNGHT are: J (vocals), Will and Ant (guitars) and Lloyd (DJ and percussion).
  • The Into The Night EP track listing is:
    • 1) Into The Night
    • 2) Give Your Love
    • 3) Way Too Far
    • 4) I Will Lead You On
  • There is an accompanying remix EP available, with mixes from some of Manchester’s newest remixing talent: MDNA, Kardanski Dropla and Red Sky Noise.
  • MUK Records is a Manchester-based independent record company.
  • MDNGHT signed an album deal with MUK in late 2012.

MDNGHT-IntothenightRMXmedMDNGHT are turning more heads with a series of remixes from Manchester’s hottest young producers.

Following The Guardian exclusively streaming their new EP Into The Night online, these mixes emphasise how MDNGHT’s live house music hybrid has moved both dancefloors and hearts.

MDNA polishes the song to a bright summer house sheen, Kardanski brings huge, snappy, bassy depth and Red Sky Noise spin the tune on its head with a clattering drum & bass rework.

All the mixes – accompanied by the original edit of the song – demonstrate MDNGHT’s strength: they have spliced the heavy sound of the clubs with the lightness of the most soulful R&B – and they remain UK’s most exciting R&B prospect.

The Into The Night EP is released on 21st October 2013 and can be pre-ordered on iTunes as of 4th August.

MDNGHT – Drive Your Car (free download)

MDNGHT have got major record label A&Rs hot under the collar – and just to turn up the heat, the four young men are treating their hungry fanbase to a deeply deluxe cover of Grosvenor’s quirky disco-pop classic Drive Your Car.

It’s a luxurious, high-gloss version of an overlooked song – showing the band’s talent for merging genres, musical eras and moods; a perfect taster of what is to come.

You can grab the free download here.

MDNGHT remain Manchester’s most enigmatic prospect, with a swirl of intrigue generated by their steamy and soulful, sweet and pummelling sound.

Live, they know what keeps an entranced crowd moving. Thrillingly blurring the lines between live gig and club night, MDNGHT are the visceral excitement of a band merging seductively with the endless euphoria of the dancefloor.

J (vocals), Will and Ant (guitars) and Lloyd (DJ and percussion) massage and mesh elements of house, Balearic beats and disco to create the mesmerising sound that had major labels rushing north to the band’s rehearsal room in 2012.

Their debut single – the bewitching I Will Lead You On was released for a limited period in April. MDNGHT‘s upcoming second release will be the four track Into The Night EP in October 2013.

BERLIN BERLIN are launching their forthcoming single Josef tonight at the Soup Kitchen in Manchester, and to celebrate have released a huge cover of Furniture’s synth-pop 80s cult classic Brilliant Mind.

The song hints at what BERLIN BERLIN are capable of, and so much more: Brilliant Mind‘s glorious scope and punchy programming demonstrates a band effortlessly bridging a 25-year gap with the talent and glamour that is set to connect them with so many fans.

Brilliant Mind is available now as a free download from and the band are releasing debut single Josef via MUK Records on the 19th August.

New Manchester three-piece, Berlin Berlin, combine a magpie approach to music of the past with an ambitious pop mindset.

The result? The melancholic throb of the choicest 70s and 80s electronic pop pioneers melds with silky, widescreen modern pop.

Debut single Josef is the perfect introduction to the three-piece’s aesthetic: euphoric pop and high-gloss choruses meeting the careful sonic constructions of Krautrock and vast stadium sounds.

Deep drum sounds punch through glittering synths and nagging hooks pepper the song: here’s a band whose aim is clear – they want to fill dancefloors and keep them moving.

Debuting exclusively on Digital Spy, Josef’s video delivers on Berlin Berlin’s promise of ‘dark beauty on an epic scale’.

Berlin Berlin host Josef’s launch party at Manchester’s Soup Kitchen on the 5th July.
